Core responsibilities
Table service: Clearing dirty dishes from tables and resetting them with clean plates, cutlery, and napkins for the next guests.
Assisting staff: Helping servers by refilling water glasses, delivering food, and attending to other guest needs.
Restocking: Keeping service stations stocked with supplies like silverware, napkins, straws, and condiments.
Cleaning: Wiping down tables and chairs, sweeping and mopping floors, and generally keeping the dining area clean and organized.
Dishwashing: Transporting dirty dishes from the dining room to the dishwashing area.
Maintaining cleanliness: Ensuring menus are clean and up-to-date, and adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
Key skills and qualifications
Physical stamina: The job requires being on your feet for long periods and carrying heavy trays.
Teamwork: A busser must work closely and effectively with servers, hosts, and kitchen staff.
Efficiency: The ability to work quickly and manage time well, especially during peak hours.
Attention to detail: Ensuring every table is properly set and clean.
Customer service: Being helpful and polite to guests, and communicating guest needs to servers.
